Venice Studio is an annual design workshop in Venice, Italy for students and recent graduates worldwide. Studios are led by established and emerging offices of architecture and urbanism.
Venice Studio Satellite is an ultra-short online/offline edition of Venice Studio. Each satellite program is focussed on a global city and is guest directed by a leading design office. Individual studios are led by established and emerging offices of architecture and urbanism. Issues: VS Melbourne (’22) VS Oslo (24′)
VS is a partnership between the University of Melbourne (Melbourne School of Design) and European Cultural Academy.
Study with an architectural practice you are interested in…
Directors and senior architects from award-winning firms lead each studio and develop the design projects side-by-side with each student. Venice Studio is an ideal opportunity to gain insight into the thinking, methods, tools and work ethic of a firm of interest.
Take a moment to experience the city while developing your design project…
Learn about and design for a new city. During Venice Studio students, accompanied by their studio directors, embark on multiple excursions out into the city and, in some cases beyond, to the Italian mainland for experiences outside the confines of the classroom and project site. While Venice Studio Satellite students are introduced to the topic city by a suite of public discussions delivered by invited experts and special activities provided by the firm guest directing the program.
Build-out your portfolio with a professional project of work…
By completing Venice Studio each student will be able to add a design project to their portfolio that reflects the professionalism and standing of the office leading their studio. Aside from the fun of the program, the satisfaction of the completed project and the learning experience within the studio, professional development and relationship building with firms is a key benefit each student enjoys.
Work on design problems at a deep disciplinary level initiated by each practice…
Studio directors develop their own brief for their studio and have complete freedom in doing so. As a consequence, students should expect to be exposed to the research directions, methodologies, workflows, design thinking, tools and representational framework of the firm leading their studio.
Design for the present day realities of sites in or around the city.
Students will develop projects for actual sites in or around the city. From studio to studio sites will differ in scale and complexity.
